Kids are invited to bring a friend to play parlor games and enjoy a cup of tea at 10 am on Saturday, May 4th, at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association, located at 3 E. Main St. in Canton.
The habit of taking tea in the afternoon arose as the fashionable dinner hour was pushed later and later in the evening, and a light meal had to be added between lunch and dinner. On May 4th, kids have the opportunity to partake in their own tea party, play some nineteenth century parlor games, cut out paper dolls, learn how to make and drink a proper cup of tea, and then share a refreshing cup of tea or apple juice and treats. In addition to parents, grandparents, and other caregivers, kids are encouraged to bring a friend – whether a live person, a favorite doll or stuffed animal – to share in the fun of this free program!
