Food Sampling in Potsdam

The Potsdam Food Co-op's 3rd Thursday Sampling continues on June 21st from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Featured will be Gardein Skillet Meal Chick’n Fiesta; a quick and easy plant-based spin on your favorite South-of-the-Border cuisine. Gardein makes a wide variety of award-winning meatless meals that are good for you and good for the planet. These meatless wonders are completely vegan, made from non-GMO soy and wheat, ancient grains, and veggies. You will also have the opportunity to sample Vermont Organic Stone Ground Corn Tortillas. Made in Shelburne, Vermont these tortillas are created in the traditional way, using an ancient process called nixtamalization, producing a taste and aroma like no other. Finally, on the tasting table you will find new Hot Sauces from Poor Devil Pepper Co. This small company is based in New York’s Hudson Valley and source all of their vegetables from certified organic farms throughout their area and the Berkshires. Their spices are also certified organic and only unrefined Celtic sea salt is used. The Co-op will be offering four flavors for tasting: Green Gypsy, Kali Curry, Mountain Mama, and Smoke Shifter. These lacto-fermented hot sauces go beyond preservation and increase and/or preserve the vitamin and enzyme levels, as well as digestibility. They might just change what you think, when you think hot sauce. The Potsdam Food Co-op & Carriage House Bakery and Deli is located at 24 Elm St. and is open daily from 8am to 7pm. It is a member-owned cooperative grocery store (although membership is not required) where everyone is welcome to shop and anyone is welcome to join.
