Event Description:
Becoming a Better Leader: Management & Board Training – A collaboration of the GrasseRoots Fund, the St. Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, and Tedra L. Cobb & Associates.

Hiring the best and right person for leadership positions leads to stronger teams, higher morale, decreased turnover and better service provision. Board members will identify the key competencies and skills needed for key positions within the organization and will learn to create and conduct interviews that are fair, defensible and that result in the best hiring outcomes.

 
What we will learn:
  • Review the research and business case for behavioral/skills-based interviewing
  • Recognize the impact of a bad hire on the organization and its mission
  • Recognize of the elements and process of a behavioral interview
  • Evaluate legal and illegal interview questions
  • Practice constructing a skills-based job description, interview questions and evaluation matrix

This highly interactive series is designed for participants to learn and hone their skills, build relationships within the board and coach each other to build a strong board team.
