When you walk through the woods, there could be a plethora of tiny animals right under your feet! The leaf litter that lines the forest floor is teeming with cool creatures that often go unnoticed. Countless types of invertebrates including ants, beetles, spiders, slugs, centipedes and even salamanders call the forest floor home.
Join Nature Up North to learn more about these creatures as you collect and sift through leaf litter in search of Leaf Litter Critters. Join Nature Up North on Saturday, July 1st from 9:30 to 11:00 am at the Wachtmeister Field Station in Canton to learn more about the creatures living under foot. We’ll collect leaf litter from the nearby Kip Trail and bring it back to the Field Station to find and identify whatever critters we find.
