Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

The Frederic Remington Art Museum continues its annual Art Highlights and Tea lecture series with a presentation by Carole Berard on the life and work of early 20th century Ogdensburg sculptor Sally James Farnham. Berard will deliver the presentation and answer audience questions in costume and in character. The presentation will take place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 14th at the Frederic Remington Art Museum. The talk is free and open to the public, and will be presented in the Museum’s Tiffany Room.
Although not as well-known today as her fellow Ogdensburg artist Frederic Remington, Sally James Farnham was an internationally famous and critically acclaimed sculptor in the first half of the 20th century. She won numerous competitive commissions for public monuments, and her work in portraiture was in high demand. Her 1921 equestrian sculpture of Simon Bolivar, which stands at the head of the Avenue of the Americas in New York City, was at the time the largest monument sculpted by a woman and the only equestrian monument of a man created by a female artist.

Immediately following Berard’s presentation, at 3:00 pm, a delicious tea will be served in the Museum’s parlors, courtesy of Ann Groome, Nancy Skiff, and friends.
